I think that polar bears must have really suffered a lot from the global warming man-kinds did to earth which greatly destroy their habitat by melting the ice and decreasing the temperature which the polar bear is suitable for.
All this changes made to earth can affects the arctic life to move to other places, and the remaining ones will die of hunger due to insufficient of food.
If Global Warming continues, it will melt the entire whole habitat of polar bear and earth might be covered in water.

Pink river dolphins are rarer than the common found dolphins in the zoo, dolphin lagoon.
Raises in contaminant levels of mercury caused increasing the number of deaths among pink dolphins. Pink dolphins which were under “vulnerable species-threatened” and was moved to “endangered species-threatened”. Noise produced by engines and motors and the sound pollution caused by them produce a disorienting phenomenon to the pink dolphins in their navigations systems causing the death to pink dolphins. People should really take care of dolphins as there is not much left.

Snow Leopard are endangered species as big cats organs can be made into medicine and sell to the market of high prices, killed by farmers as Snow leopard intruded their farm and killed their goats as human took over their habitat creating less or no food for them.

Snowy owls hunts in the day and sleep at night that is in a way they are different from other owls. When the population of their prey increase, the birth rate of Snowy Owl increase too.
When their prey decreases, the same will goes to the Snowy owl birth rate. Snowy Owl is killed for their eyes and feet that are being sold to the market. People really should not but them so that the killing will stop and we will put an end to stop endangered animals from extinction.

Panda are near endanger in a way as there are insufficient of food for them, human taking over their habitat as man-kind population increase which forces the panda to move to somewhere else which maynot have food for them to survive and eventually they will die.

PANDA

Pandas are among most lovable animals since many people consider them being cute and peace-loving. Pandas only live in China and current estimations say that only about 1600 pandas still live in wildness.

Pandas are endangered because of many reasons, mainly because of the demand for land and natural resources by China's enormous population. Among other reasons there's the poaching since their dense fur holds very high price on illegal market.

Pandas usually live 20-30 years, can weigh up to 115 kg (253 pounds) and have their unique black-and-white coat as their trademark. Their well known meal is bamboo and this is also causing problem for their survival since timber profit gained from harvesting bamboo has destroyed a significant portion of the food supply for the wild panda. Bamboo flowers grow only every 80 to 100 years and it takes more than 20 years to grow enough to sustain panda population. The fact that pandas have very low birth-rate isn't encouraging either.

In 1984 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service listed the giant panda as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Hopefully considering the popularity of these animals, pandas will survive in wildness, but much will depend about China's government policy.

Reflection
Panda are being endangered in a way as, the lands for them no longer are safe and there are not enough food for them to feed on. China populations increase which they took over the panda habitat further more the bamboo panda feed on takes a long time to grow which there will be shortage of food for the panda. Panda also have low birth rates which are not encouraging. For all this problems, it could easily cause panda to go into extinction.

Snowy Owls
Snowy owls are mostly white with narrow, sparse brown bars and spots. Their golden colored eyes are rather small for an owl and their toes and claws are thickly covered with feathers. Their dark colored bills are short and strong and sharply pointed. They are among the largest North American owl species.
Go Wild This Holiday Season!
Help save Snowy Owls from harmful Arctic drilling. Want to add a little magic to your world? Adopt a Snowy Owl today and help protect these marvelous creatures.

Height Up to 27 inchesLength 20-27 inches (wingspan of 4.5-5.5 feet)Weight 40-70 ounces; males smaller than females
Lifespan The oldest bird living in the wild was recorded to be 9 years and 5 months. A captive bird lived for at least 28 years.

Diet
Mainly mammals ranging from small rodents to large hares. Also known to eat birds ranging in size from small songbirds to medium-sized geese and lemmings. An adult owl may eat around 3 to 5 lemmings each day (1600 per year).

Population
Their local numbers are high when the lemming population they prey on is high and lower when the lemming population is low.

Range
In North America, snowy owls are found during the breeding season from the western Aleutians in Alaska to northeastern Manitoba (Churchill), northern Quebec and northern Labrador in Canada. In the winter, they can regularly be found in the northern United States. Sporadically they can be found as far south as central California as well as in Texas and Florida.

Behavior
Unlike most other owl species, snowy owls hunt mainly in the daytime. Snowy owls are highly nomadic and their movements are tied to the abundance of their primary prey species, lemmings. They are known to aggressively defend their nests and will attack those that disturb their nests.

ReproductionMating Season MayGestation About 32 days for egg incubationClutch size Varies depending on availability of food; 3-5 eggs during times of limited food availability and 7-11 when food is plentiful.Only females incubate the eggs. The male provides the female and young with food. The young owls begin to leave the nest around 25-26 days after hatching. They are not able to fly well until at least 50 days of age. They continue to be fed by the parents for another 5 weeks after they leave the nest.

Threats
Collisions with automobiles, utility lines and other objects and gunshot wounds. Recent reports indicate these birds are being illegally killed for their eyes and feet, which are traded in Asian markets.

Legal Status/Protection
CITES Appendix II*. Snowy owls are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act**, however, Alaska law allows Alaska residents to shoot unlimited numbers of owls if they are used for food or clothing. No bird or part of a bird may be sold or offered for sale.

Reflection
Snowy owls legs are covered with feather and have golden eyes. They mainly hunt during the day unlike others owl that hunts during night, they fed on mainly mammals. The population of Snowy owl increase when the food population they hunt on increase too, if their prey populations falls then the snowy owl population will also fall. 3-5 eggs during times of limited food availability and 7-11eggs when food is plentiful. Only the female do the incubate while the male look for food. The population of snowy owl drop due to illegal killing of Snowy Owl for their eyes and feet, which are traded in Asian markets which can cause them to extinction.

Snow Leopard

There are three main reasons that snow leopards are in trouble. The first reason is that the bones, skin and organs of large cats are valuable in traditional Asian medicine. Tigers are the prefered species for this purpose, but tigers are so rare that it is almost impossible to find one in the wild so snow leopards are substituted for tigers. When you consider that the people who live near snow leopards often earn less than 300 dollars per year and that a poacher can get perhaps $200 for a dead snow leopard (though a middleman can resell it for up to $10,000), it isn’t hard to understand why snow leopards are at risk.

Humans are a second reason that snow leopards are endangered. Humans have pushed ever further with their livestock into the snow leopard’s habitat. Overgrazing damages the fragile mountain grasslands, leaving less food for the wild sheep and goats that are the snow leopard’s main prey. With less food for the wild sheep and goats, there become fewer of these animals for the snow leopard. This leaves the snow leopard with little choice but to prey on the domestic livestock for their own survival. An unhappy farmer, ariving at his goat pen one morning to find that all of his goats have been killed by a snow leopard, might retaliate by killing the snow leopard if he can find it.

The Snow Leopard Conservancy is just one of many organizations that are trying to help the troubled animals of the world. There are organizations that are trying to help elephants (one is Save The Elephants) others are trying to help bats (Bat Conservation International for instance). There are organizations that are trying to help preserve the world’s plants. (The Tropical Forestry Initiative is trying to restore Costa Rica’s rainforest.)

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (which is known as IUCN for short) is a world-wide organization whose membership is made up of many hundreds of smaller organizations devoted to every part of the effort to preserve the natural world. It is a very old and respected scientific organization. You can go to their web site and learn about them.

The IUCN has defined the criteria that indicates when a species is in trouble. If the species is in big trouble they might be listed in the IUCN’s “Red List of Threatened Species.”

CITES is a second organization that attempts to identify animal species that might be in trouble. CITES is the United Nations Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. CITES bans or strictly limits trade of animals or their body parts. CITES lists snow leopards in Appendix 1 (most endangered). As of 2007 only Tajikistan had yet to sign the CITES agreement.

Reflection
Snow leopards are hunt in replace of tigers, as tiger is very rare to find.
Bones, skin and organs of large cats are valuable in traditional Asian for making medicines.
Their habitat was destroyed which cause them to have no choice but to prey on the domestic livestock for their own survival. Farmer found that their goats have been killed by a snow leopard retaliate by killing the snow leopard if he can find it. It is why there are decreases in the population of snow leopard.. Human acts cause the snow leopard to decreases and nearing extinction, Human acts destroy their habitat causes some to die of hunger and some which prey on domestic livestock which was than found out by the farmer of the culprit and killed the snow leopard in anger to revenge for the dead goats they raised.

Pink River Dolphins

While you expect to see dolphins in the ocean, very few people realize that they can be found in fresh water rivers as well.

There are five species of dolphins that make their homes in rivers, being the most popular of them the Pink Dolphins also known as Boto, Boutu or Amazon River dolphins as it inhabits the Amazon River.
The scientific names of pink dolphins from the Amazon are Inia Geoffrensis and they belong to the genus Inea, part of the family Platanistoidea, which is conformed by the five species of river dolphins.

Pink dolphins are not the same dolphins that you would see in the ocean; they have special adaptations to their habitat. In fact, river dolphins are only distantly related to sea dolphins.
They belong taxonomically speaking to different families. The oceanic dolphins belong to the family delphinidae while river dolphins belong to the family Platanistoidea as we said above.

Among the five species of river dolphins, Amazon pink dolphins are considered the most intelligent of them, with a brain capacity 40% larger than that of humans.Pink dolphins inhabit the Amazon River, but they can also be found in the Orinoco basins and the upper Madeira River as well. While they are mostly pink, these dolphins have various colored skins, which can be light gray, pink, or brown.

The Amazon River pink dolphins conform the largest population of river dolphins in existence as the other four species are extinct or close to extinction. The river dolphins are among the most endangered species of all the world's cetaceans. Pink dolphins have been listed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a “vulnerable species-threatened” and recently was moved to “endangered species-threatened”

These friendly and social creatures have been living for centuries in the Amazon and its tributaries, but the accelerated destruction of the Amazon basin have put them in a every time more dangerous situation. The raise in contaminant levels of mercury have caused and increased number of deaths among pink dolphins, especially near gold mines where mercury is used as part of the gold mining process.

The increase of traffic also threatens these creatures as they are curious by nature and they sometime approach to vessels where they are easily hurt by the sharp propellers.Additionally, the noise produced by engines and motors and the sound pollution caused by them, has been considered to produce a disorienting phenomenon in their navigations systems, causing the death of many pink dolphins.

Pink dolphins not only lives in ocean, they live in rivers too..You can mostly find thm in rivers.
That is why they are named river dolphins, they are not the normal type of dolphins people usually see(those plain grey) .THEY ARE DIFFERENT, in a way they are special and rare.
Due to the raise in contaminant levels of mercury that been have caused and increased number of deaths among pink dolphins, especially near gold mines where mercury is used as part of the gold mining process.Pink dolphins which were under “vulnerable species-threatened” and recently was moved to “endangered species-threatened” .

Pink dolphins are killed by accident and human acts... Human should keep them safe in-order
to see them again and not let them be gone forever.

POLAR BEAR
<$BlogDateHeaderDate$>

Polar Bear
In December the conservation group, along with Greenpeace and the Natural Resources Defense Council, sued the U.S. government to protect the world's polar bears from extinction.

According to the conservationists, Earth's steadily rising temperature is causing the polar bear's habitat to melt. Many scientists say the warming is due, in part, to human activities such as driving cars and burning coal, which release heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere.

If the bears are given federal protection, they would be the first U.S. mammals officially deemed to be in danger of extinction because of global warming, the conservation groups said.

Rosa Meehan, the chief of marine-mammal protection at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Anchorage, Alaska, said the conservation groups presented sufficient information to merit a close look at the status of polar bears.

"It doesn't mean that we are going to list them or that we're not," she said. "We know things are changing. We know a lot more about polar bears than we did a few years ago. We need to review their status."

The Fish and Wildlife Service will spend the next 12 months examining scientific evidence about the changing Arctic environment and how it is affecting polar bears

Life on the Ice

Polar bears live only in the Arctic, the northernmost region of Earth (see Arctic photos).
The bears, which can grow to about 8 feet (2.5 meters) long, depend on sea ice for their survival. They hunt their primary prey, the ringed seal, from the ice. They also travel, mate, and sometimes give birth on the ice.

But the ice is melting.

Polar bears can grow up to about 8 feet which is 2.5 meters long; depend on sea ice for their survival. They hunt their primary prey which is the ringed seal from the ice. Polar bear travels, mate and some times they give birth on ice...But the ice is melting due to global warming
Which destroys their habitat and unable them to give birth. The harm that human did cause polar bears to die, due to the decreasing of polar bears and the climate weather which cause them to unable to give birth as the ice is melting can cause polar bear to extinct soon...
Global warming is due to human activities like driving, burning of wastes, releasing of gases from factory, burning of coal which release heat-trapping gases(carbon-dioxide) into the atmosphere.
When heat is being trap in the atmosphere, the temperature around the earth changes, it is when it melts the ice away...Killing lots of Polar bears which can led them to extinction.
